1/3 cup diced onion
1/3 cup diced celery
1/3 cup diced carrots
2 Tbsps. butter
½ lb. ground beef
½ lb. ground pork
1 bay leaf
½ tsp. oregano
¼ cup dry white wine or beef broth
1 ½ tsps. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
28ozs. canned tomatoes
¼ cup cream
16 ozs. Fettuccine, (flat macaroni)
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1. In large saucepan, sauté onion, celery, and carrots in butter.
2. Add ground meat, bay leaf, and oregano. Cook and stir until meat is browned.
3. Add wine, salt, and pepper. Simmer uncovered, 5- 6 minutes.
4. Add tomatoes. Cook uncovered, over medium high heat 15 minutes. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 15- 20 minutes longer.
5. Add cream and continue to simmer 5- 7 minutes
6. Prepare Fettuccine. Drain.
7. Pour prepared sauce over cooked Fettuccine. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese. 6 – 8 servings
